GoalsEach student possesses a unique set of strengths and needs, and it is the goal of GT at Steck to come alongside classroom teachers, students, and parents to challenge all students at an appropriate level. This can mean a variety of instructional and extracurricular options designed to enrich or extend classroom curriculum.
2014-15 Update: This year we will continue to build our GT program at Steck. Many of last year's changes will remain, with tweaks here and there as we look to refine curriculum, increase communication, and respond to ongoing changes within GT in DPS and the move nationally towards the Common Core. Our goal remains to make the programming we offer as intentional as possible, and address [anticipated and unanticipated!] bumps along the road. We so appreciate your continued support, patience, and communication with us as this process takes place. 1. New Website Features!
2. New GT Room Auction Additions! A HUGE thank you to auction contributors last year--because of you, the GT room now features a brand new [erasable!] white board, an electric pencil sharpener, and some new affective needs books, which brings us to … 3. GT Lending Library I have built up a selection of affective needs books [for students and adults], and extra academic challenge materials/workbooks. If you would like to "check out" any of these options, please stop by any morning immediately following the 8:15 bell. You are welcome to borrow or contribute as much as you need. Topics include: anxiety, perfectionism, parenting, math and science activities, etc. 4. General GT/Extracurriculars Calendar Just to give you a broad outline of the year. Find it here. 5. Talking About GT It's a weighty term--both positive and negative. Find some conversation starters here. |
